In order to identify, diagnose, treat and monitor disorders of the auditory and vestibular system.
Explain Anatomical Position
Body is erect; palms, arms and hands face forward.
Axis
The imaginary midline which the body pivots.
Frontal or Coronal Plane
Divides body into front and back halves
Sagittarius plane
Any plane that divides the body into left and right halves.
Midsagittal plane
Divides body into right and left halves
Transverse or Horizontal Plane
Divides body into upper (superior) and lower (inferior) halves.
Anterior
Ventral - Toward the front or belly
Posterior
Dorsal - Toward the back or rear
Superior
Cranial - Toward the head or upper end
Inferior
Caudal - Toward the tail
Medial
Mesial - Toward the midline or median plane

Away from the midline

Toward the point of attachment
