Q

Explain how data should be collected when investigating variation within a species quantitatively.

A
  1. Take a random sample to avoid bias. You can do this by using a grid to divide the area into squares and using a random number generator to obtain random coordinates.
  2. Use the same method of measurement each time.
  3. Use a large sample size so the data will be representative of the means.
  4. Calaculate a mean.
  5. Use a method that is ethical. Make sure it does not harm the organism.

Q

Explain how data should be collected when investigating variation within a species quantitatively.

A
  1. Calculate a mean to allow comparison.
  2. Calculate the standard deviation and use it to see whether the two sets of data are significant.
  3. Do a statistical test and use it to see whether the two sets of data are significant.
