What is a hypothesis?

A

Hypothesis is an idea which can be investigated and found to be true or false. Our hypothesis was: behind the humanities block hasthe best environmental quality.

What do you do in the research part?

A

We do either primary or secondary research. Primary research is when you collect your own data e.g. a survey. Secondary research is when you look at someone else’s data that they have collected e.g. newspapers.

What methods did you do?

A

Environmental survey: we gave scores for the amount of litter for litter, graffiti and the amount of open/green space.
People count: we counted the number of people who walked pass during a two minute period.
Noise: we used a noise app and for 2 mins and recorded the highest and lowest sound reading and wrote down what made the sound.

How do you present your data for the results?

A

The data needs to be presnted in a waythat can be easily understood and interpreted to prove or disprove our hypothesis. Ways we could present our data is with a table or charts or graphs.

What do you do for your conclusion?

A

The data collected is used to test the hypothesis. If the analysis of fieldwork data is true, you accept the hypothesis but if it is untrue you should reject the hypothesis.

A

We decide how successful our overall study was to see what we could improve for next time.
