Irish Daideo Fear Na Dticéad Flashcards
(10 cards)
Ba é fear na dticéad laoch mór an scéil.
The ticket man was the great hero of the story.
Ag tus an scéil bhí sé amhrasach cantalach agus ní maith leis an léitheoir é.
At the beginning of the story he was suspicious and irritable and the reader likes him
Lean sé air ag cur isteach ar Liam agus á scanrú don chuid is mó den scéal.
He continued to disturb Liam and scare him for most of the story.
Labhraigh sé go crosta bagrach leis an leaid óg agus bhíodh áthas ar an léitheoir nuair a chabhraigh an seanduine sa chúinne le Liam,
He spoke with a threatening cross to the young lad and the reader was happy when the old man in the corner helped Liam,
Ach i nganfhios don léitheoir, bhí fear na dticéad ag iarraidh Liam a choinneáil slán an t-am ar fad.
But unbeknownst to the reader, the ticket man wanted to keep Liam safe all the time.
Thuig sé go raibh rud éigin faoin seanduine nach raibh ceart and thuig sé go raibh rud éigin aisteach ag tarlú.
He realized that there was something about the old man that was not right and realised something strange was happening
Ansin nuair a thuig se leis go bhfaca sé ‘Daideo’ leis an mbuachaill a d’imigh ar iarraidh, thuig sé cad a bhí ar súil.
Then when he realized that he had seen ‘Grandpa’ with a boy who had gone missing, he understood what was coming.
Murach gurghlaoigh sé ar na Gardaí, bheadh buachaill óg eile ar iarraidh.
If he hadn’t called the Gardaí, another young boy would have been missing.
Mar sin ba duine maith é fear na dticéad cé go raibh sé beagáinín cantalach.
So the ticket man was a good person even though he was a little grumpy.
Ach thar aon rud eile ba duine cineálta ina chroí istigh é agus bhí sé ag iarraidh Liam a chosaint an t-am ar fád.
But above all, he was a kind person at heart and he wanted to protect Liam at all times.
