Q

How can the behaviour of different components be tested ?

A

By using these circuits:
One with a variable resistor and the component to be tested in parallel with a voltmeter and an ammeter is series

Q

How to increase and decrease gradients ?

A

Components with a constant resistance will give a straight line (ohmic conductor)
As I and v increase the thermistor heats up so the resistance decreases and gradient increases
Semiconductor diode has INFINITE RESISTANCE ( gradient=0 horizontal line)
Below a certain pd after which the resistance is very low so the gradient is steep
