What is soft normal end feel ?
When two body surfaces come together a soft compression of tissue is felt

Firm/springy sensation

hard/firm stretch (stretching leather)

Abrupt hard stop to motion or a grating sensation (loose bodies in a joint, fracture)

Boggy sensation (Soft tissue edema, synovitis)

Springy sensation or hard arrest (ligament/muscular or capsular shortening)

Unable to get to end range (usually due to pain

indicates loose body (knee with torn meniscus)

Used for thumb opposition

Full ROM and does not have to be measured with a goniometer

Not full range of motion however does not effect function. Variable across therapists and patients.
