First Line-
JANE: Has Lizzy returned from her walk yet?

LYDIA: Not that I’ve seen. [Holding up a piece of satin trimming that is dangling from the bonnet.] Hold this piece while I snip it off, Kitty.
Second Line-
JANE: [Looking up from her embroidery.] Why did you buy the bonnet Lydia, if you don’t think it pretty?
Act 1 Scene 1
Third Line Cue-
KITTY: When Lydia and I prefer pondering to enjoying ourselves Mary, we will think about it.
*short pause
Third Line-
JANE: [A kind reprimand.] Oh, leave Mary alone, Kitty.
Scene 1
Fourth Line Cue-
MRS BENNET: [Excitedly.] Why my dear you must know……..he is to take possession by the end of next week!

JANE: What is his name?

1. ELIZABETH: Oh Papa! Surely, you must know by now…

JANE: Mama, it is really so bad that we have no introductions to Mr Bingley? He is only one gentleman. Surely you have something else to put your mind to?

JANE: It is as much their part to focus on such things as it is ours to tease them about it.

CHARLOTTE: Yes, he is the one with the fine black hair, apparently.
JANE is solely focused on MR BINGLEY.

JANE: He is quite handsome…

Action Cue-
SIR WILLIAM LUCAS has made a beeline for the Bingley party, and has arrived there before anyone else, giving a bow and engaging in pleasantries
Action-
JANE, ELIZABETH, and CHARLOTTE shoot each other a look of resignation

BINGLEY: It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance.
Action-
BINGLEY’S eyes lock with JANE’S.
Scene 2
3rd Line Cue-
They bow again. DARCY is stoney silent. BINGLEY gives him a look. CAROLINE takes a step closer to DARCY.
3rd Line-
JANE: How do you like it here in Hertfordshire, Mr Bingley?
Scene 2
4th Line Cue-
CAROLINE: [Sarcastically.] /Obviously, Charles. It’s your library.
*short pause (act slightly concerned/disappointed)
4th Line-
JANE: I wish I read more, but there always seems to be so many other things to do.
Scene 2
5th Line Cue-
BINGLEY: Miss Bennet, might I have the great honour of this next dance?
5th Line-
JANE: You shall, Mr Bingley.
Scene 2
Action Cue-
ELIZABETH walks over to CHARLOTTE, passing directly in front of DARCY; he watches her as she moves. CHARLOTTE appears shocked at something ELIZABETH tells her.
Action-
JANE joins them soon after, sometime during the next conversation, and seems to put her hands over her mouth, aghast at something.
Scene 2
6th Line Cue-
BINGLEY: [Giddy.] Miss Bennet, would you grace me with another dance?
6th Line-
JANE: I will.
Scene 3
1st Line Cue-
JANE and ELIZABETH are playing croquet in the garden.
1st Line-
JANE: Mr Bingley is just what a young man ought to be, sensible, good humoured, lively; and I never saw such happy manners!
Scene 3
2nd Line Cue-
ELIZABETH: Save your own, sweet Jane.
2nd Line-
JANE: He is also… well, he is handsome.
Scene 3
3rd Line Cue-
ELIZABETH: Which a young man ought to be. Well, I give you leave to like him. [Teasing.] You have liked many a stupider person.

JANE: Dear Lizzy!

MRS BENNET excitedly rushes into the garden, the REST OF THE BENNETS quick behind her.
Action-
ELIZABETH and JANE attempt to continue playing around their family but shortly give up.

MRS BENNET: Oh my dear Mr Bennet! That was a most excellent ball…and Miss Lucas, too, though she is so plain…

MRS BENNET: Well, Jane, who is it from? What is it about? What does he say? Well, Jane, make haste and tell us; make haste, my love.

JANE: [Opening the letter.] It’s from Miss Bingley.

MRS BENNET: [Slightly dejected.] Oh.
2nd Line-
JANE: She has invited me over for dinner/

MRS BENNET: /and will Mr Bingley be there?

JANE: [reading aloud.] ‘however my brother and the gentlemen are to be out, dining with the officers. Yours ever, Caroline Bingley.’
