Ball tap
An ankle movement. Strike the ball of the foot on the floor in any direction, releasing it immediately. No change of weight.
Brush back
Strike the ball of the foot on the floor in a sweeping backward. No change of weight.
Brush front
Strike the ball of the foot on the floor in a sweeping motion forward. No change of weight.
Heel tap
A whole leg movement. Strike the heel of the foot on the floor and release it immediately no change of weight.
Heel walk
A transfer of weight from one foot to the heel of the opposite foot.
Hop
Spring into the air from one foot and land on the ball of the same foot
Jump
Spring into the air from one foot or both feet and land on the balls of both feet. Change of weight is optional.
Leap
spring into the air from one foot and land on the ball of the other foot.
Stamp
Strike the floor with the whole foot and an accent and release it immediately
Step
A change of weight from one foot to the ball of the other foot, making one sound
Stomp
Strike the floor with the whole foot and an accent, and release it immediately
Arabesque

A big beat
Jazz glissade
another name for drag step. A darting step outwards on Demi plié while dragging the free foot across the floor. An excellent linking step.
Knee pop
Done in jazz first and jazz second positions with the feet
Pas de bouree ( on the spot )
Three steps finishing in an open position ( behind side open )
Pas de bouree ( turning )
Three steps under making one full rotation (back side front)

Round of the leg
Flex kick
A small developpe kick. Must come from the knee
Hitch
A short slide on the ball of the foot across the floor in any direction, is usually done on a straight supporting leg
Chaines
A chain of turns; two forward steps on straight legs making one full rotation
Lunge
A step forward or to the side into a demo-plie with the supporting leg foot turned out; a jazz rock but turned out.
Soutenu turn ( en dehors )
To sustain while turning; rotate outside on both feet. Can be done in jazz first or classical fifth
