Existence proceeds essence
Contrasts the idea that we have human nature that we can inherit
Initially a person is nothing
A person is there own maker in a way that we will choose who and what we become
Intersubjectivity
Not only are people responsible with their individuality but all people
Subjectivity
What we make of ourselves
By extension, intersubjectivity: in choosing ourselves we choose everyone
Anguish
Feeling accompanying subjectivity
Our responsibility of “choosing everyone”
Forlorsnness
Left to face the consequences of god not existing
Despair
The feeling that comes with knowing there is no reality except in action
Moral choice is like making a work of art
It is what it is or it cannot be what it’s not
Existentialism
Don’t pronounce worst aspect but rather optimistic toughness
We are not born a certain way
It is our actions which announce who and what we are
