The struggle to live by gods laws. For example striving to serve god, making an effort to live a moral life and actively trying to live in peace

A

Greater- personal struggle for right
Lesser- desire to remove evil from society

What do you do in greater jihad

A

Needing to control desires- follow 5 pillars and live a life pleasing to god. On day of judgement they’ll be worthy of gods favour
Battle laziness- make the effort to be a better person and live as god instructed. Get up for prayers before dawn, only eat halal food and show kindness to others

What else do you do in greater jihad

A

Removing evil from yourself and make the world a better place
Respect beliefs of others- be tolerant and live in peace and harmony with others. Celebrate differences and obey the law

A

Buying/eating halal meat
No alcohol
Wearing modest clothes
Going to the mosque

What is the lesser jihad

A

The use of force only in self defence soemtimes called the holy war and is removing the Evil from society
Quran 2:190 states “fight in the way of god those who fight against you but don’t transgress”

What is the origin of lesser jihad

A

Comes from prophet Muhammad’s lifetime when he gave permission for followers to fight
His enemies in Makkah planned to eradicate all Muslims and so no option but to engage in conflict
Quran 22:39 “Permission has been given to those who are beinf fought because they were wronged”

Why shouldn’t jihad be aggressive

A

Must never be the first to attack only attack those who’re attacking you and never civilians
Can only be declared by a Muslim leader who’s holy and pure and has support of the muslims ummah
