Q

What’s the difference between ligaments and tendons?

A
  • Ligaments = attach bone to bone (end of muscles)

- Tendons = move joints

Q

What are the 3 mobilities of joints?

A
  • Fixed joints: no movement (ex: cranium)
  • Semi movable: attached but slightly movable (ex: vertebrae)
  • Freely movable:
    • Type 1: Move only 1 way (ex: elbow (hinge joint)
    • Type 2: All directions (ex: hip (ball + socket)

Q

What are the 3 mechanics of joints?

A

Flexion/Extension:
- Flexion = bending a limb (reduction of the angle)
- Extension= straightening a limb (an increase of the angle)
Abduction/Adduction:
- Abduction = limb moving towards the body
- Adduction = limb moving away from the body
Rotation
- Rotation = Circular movement around an axis

Q

Give 3 examples of links and guiding in the human body.

A

Certain links allow certain movements:

1) Rotational = (Hip Joint → ball + socket)
2) Wheel + axle
3) Partial rotation hinge (Elbow)
