Ashkenazim
An ethnic grouping of some Jews, especially from Central and Eastern Europe
Conservative Movement
A recent movement/ denomination within Judaism, seeking a middle ground between the Orthodox Movement and the Reform Movement.

Halakahah
The body of traditional Jewish practices, addressing every area of Jewish life. Laws of traditional Judaism
Ha Shem
The Name. A reverent way to talk of God
Haskalah
a movement among Jews in Europe and America in the 18th and 19th centuries that advocated better integration into European society, and increasing education in secular studies along with study of Hebrew.
-Literally means “Enlightenment” and is the Jewish parallel to the Enlightenment movements of the 18th Century in Europe
Hasidism
a. Popular Jewish devotional movement, which began in the 18th Century in E. Europe. Love of God more important than scholarship and admired the wisdom of simple people who lived a life of fervent devotion. Noted for its large gathering featuring prayer, song, teaching, ecstatic dancing, and exhortation to personal and communal piety.
