Q

What is the process of using a potometer?

A
    • Cut the sample under the water. Then submerge the tubing and glass pipette tubes in the water making sure that there are no air bubbles. Attach the cutting to the end of the tube and then attach to glass pipette.
  1. Use petroleum jelly to seal the attachment points and insure that everything stays underwater.
  2. Attach equipment to a clamp stand.
  3. Then time and measure the distance the air bubble moves to indicate transpiration rate.
