K Levels Flashcards
(13 cards)
no ability or potential to ambulate or transfer safely with/without assistance and a prosthesis DOES NOT enhance QOL or mobility
LEVEL 0
ability or potential to use a prosthesis for transfers/ambulation on level surfaces at fixed cadence (household ambulator)
LEVEL 1
what types of prosthetic for LEVEL 1
- SACH/single axis foot
- single axis knee
ability or potential for ambulation with ability to traverse low level environmental barriers like curbs/stairs/uneven surfaces (low-level community ambulator)
LEVEL 2
What type of prosthesis for Level 2
- flexible keel foot, multi-axis foot
- safety knee, polycentric (4 bar) knee
ability/potential for ambulation with variable cadence
LEVEL 3
What type of prothesis for level 3?
*dynamic response foot
*hydraulic knee
ability/potential for prosthetic ambulation that exceeds basic ambulation skills
LEVEL 4
What type of prosthesis for Level 4?
*MPF (microprocessor foot)
*sprinting foot or any foot/ankle combo
* any knee L5930-high activity knee control frame
What K level is a SACH (solid ankle cushion heel)?
K level 1
SACH absorbs impact of initial contact (stable foot)
What K level is a Single axis foot?
K Level 1
ensures rapid foot-flat to promote knee extension and assist in knee stability at loading
What K level is a multi-axial foot?
K Level 2
*triplanar motion, ensures rapid foot-flat during *loading (assists in knee stability)
good for uneven terrain
what K Level is dynamic response foot?
K level 3
- energy storing foot (absorbs/releases energy)
- good for highly active people
** In general you want a firmer heel cushion for transtibial prosthesis because it promotes knee flexion; you want a softer heel cushion for transfemoral because it’ll delay forward progression of the pilon (promoting knee extension)
