A

UK part of ERM- countries of EU linked currency, by sept 1992, value of pound starting to fall down lower safety net.
in attempt to prop up value of pound, UK government spent £3.3bil in a day and raised interest rate to 15%, caused disastrous economic recession from 92-95.
