Q

baddley and hitch 1976

A

if you do 2 things at the same time and they are both visual tasks you preform less well then f you do them separately, if you do 2 things where one involved sound and the other is visual the there is no interferance so you’ll preform better, suggesting that there is one store for visual processing and a separate one for sounds

Q

KF study-shallice and warrington 1970

A

KF suffered brain damage in a motorcycle accident which damaged his short term memory, KF could recall verbal but not visual info immediately after its presentation, this supports WMM claim that separate short term stores manage short term phonological and visual memories

Q

problem with the KF study (case study)

A

process of brain injury is tramatic which may change behaviour in general, meaning a person may perform worse on certain tasks, secondly people may have difficulties paying attention and therefore underperforming on tasks, case studies are unique and cannot be generalised to he population, this is an issue for the WMM as some of the key research that supports WMM is from case studies
