1 Migration- Windrush generation post 1948, helped public services like transport
Windrush scandal 2018, lots of the windrush generation was denied legal rights, lost jobs, homes and even deported.
2) Diversity/Discrimination
Equality Act 2010, In 2021, Maya forstater was a researcher who lost her job contract after posting views saying that biological sex was immutable, people called her transphobic, she took it to court and claimed she was being discriminated against because of her views, the court protected her views under equality act 2010
3) Human rights
Malala yousefzai was protesting for the right for women to have education in Pakistan and she was shot, she then moved to the Uk and won the nobel peace prize in 2014 becoming the youngest ever
4) Role of media in democracy
Marcus Rashford he used social media to campaign for free school meals during holidays forcing the government to extend free school meal support during COVID-19 showing the power of the media.
5) Community Cohesion
Case Study: City of Leicester
• What: One of the most ethnically diverse cities in the UK.
• Approach: Celebrates festivals like Diwali and Eid publicly. Schools teach mutual respect and diversity.
• Impact: Known for strong community cohesion and multiculturalism.

• What: A group of young people elected to represent youth issues to the city council.
• Impact: Helped introduce mental health services in schools.
• Citizenship Link: Participation, local democracy, and making change happen at a community level.
