Cordelia is selfless concerned only for lear
“ for the oppressed king , am I cast down ; myself could else out - from false fortunes frown”
A beautiful way to say as long as he has Cordelia he will be okay , the end of Lears metamorphosis to humility Lear understands power is ephemeral and transient he values only Cordelia now
“We two alone will sing like birds I the cage ; when thou doth ask me blessing , I’ll kneel down and ask thee forgiveness, and laugh like guilted butterflies “
Edmund is about to die and tries to do good
Some good i mean to do
despite mine own nature
His last words are for Cordelia showing how he is no longer a man who’s first and last word will be for himself but displaying Cordelia and her innocence to the audience instead
“ look on her , look her lips / look there , look there “
Lear is tormented and he filled with guilt and shame shakespeare uses ….. as a metaphor for king lears mind and symbolic to his suffering
” You do me wrong to take me out of the grave, thou art a soul in bliss ; but i am bound upon a wheel of fire , that my own tears do scol like molten lead “
