1) Open elements burner
- Either electric coils or gas flames

- Burners are covered with steel plates
- More cooking space is available
- The drawback is it takes a lot of time to heat up

Griddles are flat cooking surfaces that can cook things like pancakes and burgers while grills have grates that create grill marks and smoky flavours

- A tilting skillet is a large, shallow, and flat-bottomed pan
- It has a tilting mechanism that enables liquid to be poured out of it
- They can steam, fry, boil, and more to foods such as vegetables and stews and soups.
What do you have to watch out for when using a steam cooker?
If you are using a steam pressure cooker you must be aware that the food is cooked under pressure and operates using a timer; if the lid is opened before the timer shuts off the equipment, the contents will blow up in the face of the user.
