Define Tongak Rebellion and the First Sino-Japanese War

A

Causes: Peasant movement fueled by poverty, high taxes, corruption.Led by Tonghak ( East Learning) intellectual.
Supression: The rebellion spread quickly. China and Japan intervened, leading to the First Sino- Japanese War.
Consequence: Japan established a new pro-Japan government in the region, which paved the way for the formal annexation.
