Q

Do you conjugate “Manger” for Je or Tu as: “Mangais”?

A

No, you would do it as “mangeais” to be consistent with the pronunciation.

For anything that ends with “-ger” you will keep the “e”. The exceptions are nous and vous (-ions and -iez), then you dont add the “e”.

Q

What would you do if a verb ends in “-cer”?

A

You would replace the “c” with a cédille (ç) except for nous and vous to stay consistent with the pronunciation rules of French.

e.g. “commençais” vs “commencais”

Q

Is “commençiez” correct for “vous commencer”?

A

No, you do not need to replace the “c” with “ç” because the pronunciation is not affected with the “i” instead of “e”
