A

A

Techniques and skills are introduced to handle situations where they might get angry

Offender applies skills they learnt in a monitored environment e.g. role-plays where the therapist tries to provoke the offender

A

Positively reinforce the offender

A

Anger management is a cognitive, behavioural, and social approach, acknowledging that offending is complex social/psychological behaviour

A

Assumption that anger causes offending is made, which may be wrong as not all crimes are motivated by anger, e.g. financial crime/Harold Shipman murdering patients because he believed he’d relieve their suffering

A

Not all prisons have the resources to run anger management sessions, they are expensive and need highly trained specialists used to working with violent offenders
