Q

What are the different aircraft classes?

A

Class 1 - Small, light aircraft, primary trainers
Class 2 - Medium weight, low-to-medium manoeuvrability aircraft, e.g. search and rescue, medium transport/ cargo, reconnaissance aircraft.
Class 3 - Large, heavy, low-to-medium maneuverability aircraft such as heavy transport airplanes, tankers, or bombers.
Class 4 - High maneuverability aircraft such as tactical reconnaissance, observation and trainer.

Q

What are the three flight phases?

A

Cat A - Non-terminal, rapid manoeuvering, accurate tracking (air to air combat, low level flying)
Cat B - Non-terminal, gradual manoeuvering, less precise tracking (climb, cruise, descent)
Cat C - Terminal, gradual manoeuvering, precise tracking (takeoff, approach, landing)

Q

What are the 3 levels of flying qualities?

A

Level 1 - Qualities are adequete for mission
Level 2 - adequete for mission but requires extra pilot workload
Level 3 - Degraded flying qualities (still controllable)
