Q

Why is DNA an ideal genetic material?

A

Great storage of information with millions of bases

Degenerate - one amino acid is coded for by more than one codons

Great stability - double helix

Able to unwind and be transcribed - hydrogen bonds between polynucleotides may be lost

Mutation - have the ability to change over time and allow genetic variation
