This poem seals Keat’s pact with literary immortality
Much inspired from William Wordsworth
The title
It’s in french: The beautiful lady without mercy’
Alludes to the work of Alain Chartier. Keats associated the prom from the start with medieval romances
O what can Ali thee, knight at arms,
I met a lady in the meads,
Full beautiful, a faery’s child
I made a garland for her head,
And bracelets too, and fragrant zone
I set her on my packing steed,
And nothing else saw all day long
She lullèd me asleep
I sae pale kings and princes too
Pale warriors, death pale were they al
