The author presents us ith this young German woman Wanda Schomburg.,who is arriving to Paris by train. She pretend to be from Switerland,because during the second world war,Switerland didnt have nay implications during the war,so expressing that you are from Switerland iots like ur not going to cause any mayem/
According to Wanda she says that she isn’t particular close to her parents.
She arrives to Paris and hopes to start a new life from scratch away from the horros of her past. She looks for a job and accommodation. She meets richard rabre in a cafe and he starts a conversation with her.
The name “finkelsetien” catches her eye because she saw this as the perfect opportunity to immerse herself in the jewish culture and experiences jewish people for herself since she grew up all of her life belieiving that the jews were bad people. Richard accompanies her.
When she arrives for the first time at the Finelstein house, this was a very important moment for Wanda because it was the first time that she met someone jewish. (her first impressions)
Helene thinks that Wanda is a was brought up ery well and seems like somone who has lived a good life in switerland despite everything happening during the war. But wanda admits that she has lived through a lot of sufferings in her life and states that she had lost her parents in a car accident. : Wanda connaissait. La solitude et les souffrances aussi.
She goes with Helene to her children’s school and meets David and Benjamin. The children start to talk and get close to Wanda. She asks them about their life at school and the say that they prefer to stay with the jewish classmates. She and helene talk about their other sufferings as well during the war like for example when Samuel was deported to the concentration camps and she was pregannt during that time with Benjami and she thought that she would never see him again. : “ De temps en temps d’accord. At the end of the chpater she starts to reflect about her own difficulties and past and her happy childhood. “ Il etait une fois,une petite fille blonde,heureuse,confinate et choyeee […} “une grande masion de ppierre meuliere avec des pieces toujours fleuries et ou regnaient les rires”.
