ECF
ExtraCellular Fluid
ICF = IntraCellular Fluid
Molarity - measure the number of moles of a solute per liter of solution
Osmolarity - measures the concentration of osmotically active molecules per kilogram of solution
Osmolality - measure the concentration of osmotically active
olecule per kilogram of solution
Isotonic - solute concentration outside the cell is equal to the solute concentration inside the cell.
Hypertonic - Solute concentration outside the cell is higher than the solute concentration inside the cell. - Water exits the cell
Hypotonic - Solute concentration outside the cell is lower than the solute concentration inside the cell. - Water enters the cell
Tonicity - the relative solute concentrations of two environment separated by a semipermeable membrane
Anabolism - the process of breaking down materials with enzymes
Catabolism - the process of creating materials with enzymes
