1

Q

What is the hypothesis of a chi-square test

A

Null hypothesis that there will be no statically significant difference in any difference we observe (any difference are due to chance alone)

Q

What does it mean if the percent from the chi-square test is above 5%

A

The results are likely due to chance alone and we can fail to reject the null hypothesis

Q

What does the x^2 value from the chi-square test tell us

A

It is the A value, to determine the percent you must determine the degrees of freedom and use the chi-square table to find the p value (p value x 100 = percentage due to chance alone)

Q

What are the 2 main genetic functions of the meiosis process

A

1) diploid to haploid (segregation of alleles)
2) crossing over and random movement of non-homogenous chromosomes

Q

Metacentric vs acrocetric chromosomes

A

Metacentric: has arms on either side of the centromere of equal length
Acrocentric: arms of different lengths
