lab midterm #1 Flashcards
(7 cards)
1
Q
- List three signals that can be collected by Lt Labstation?
A
- Ecg, eeg, emg
- Pulse
- Number of beats
- Heart rate
2
Q
- What does each button (delete, select point, start recording, marker, auto scale, compression, comment) on the data collection screen do?
A
- Delete: delete the data
- Select point: selects a certain point in data to see the information
- Start recording: start recording data
- Marker: placing the marker on the baseline, the value panal readout changes from absolute amplitude to relative amplitude. That is it shows the difference (delta) from baseline value
- Auto scale: allows you to auto scale the data
- Compression: compress or expand the time axis
3
Q
- When would you use a signal conditioner versus a transducer?
A
- Transducers are sensors that convert biological signals into electrical analog singals
- Biological signals that require extra amplification, filtering, and isolation are preprocssed by signal conditioners. These include bio amp and spirometer pod
4
Q
- When recording using the pulse transducer, why is it important that the hand be in a supinated (palm up) position?
A
- The hand must be supination because it must be similar to anatomical position. It ensures that no veins artieries or nerve are twisted
5
Q
- What happened to the signal when the volunteer twitched their fingers?
A
- The BPM increased and the pulse looked sporadic and not in uniform
6
Q
- What signal is each channel collecting?
A
- The pulse channel shows raw data signal which us coming directly from your volunteers fingers
- The number of beats channel has a channel calculation applied to it so the signal you see is calculated based on the raw data
