What are the 19 lab safety rules?

A

The 19 lab safety rules are: do not go into the lab without permission, whilst waiting to go into a lab line up quietly against the corridor wall to keep the corridor clear. Never run or rush around the lab you should not leave your seat without the permission of your teacher, leave floors and bench tops clear put bags and cases under the benches, jackets if they are removed must be hung on the hooks provided, never interfere with electrical fittings, gas taps, water taps and fire extinguishers, never interfere with equipment or chemicals, Never throw things in the lab, never take anything from a lab without permission, Benches must be kept clean and tidy and any apparatus used must be cleaned and put away immediately after use, put rubbish into the waste bins provided and not into sinks, fire sand buckets or on the floor, safety glasses must be worn at all times when heating chemicals and when instructed to do so by the teacher, never eat sweets or food in the lab, never put anything into your mouth in the lab if you do get something in your mouth spit it out at once and wash out your mouth with lots of water, if you get anything in your eye tell your teacher immediately, long hair must be tied back and ties, cardigans, etc should not be allowed to hang freely, wash your hands after all practical work with chemicals, always make sure you know exactly what you are supposed to do if in doubt ask you teacher, any accidents, spillages or breakages must be reported to your teacher immediately.
