Extensive
property which depends on amount of sample - weight, specific heat capacity
is specific heat capacity extensive or intensive

4.184
in an exothermic reaction, is the enthalpy positive or negative
negative
in an endothermic reaction, is the enthalpy positive or negative
positive
(-) ΔG
spontaneous reaction
+ ΔG
non-spontaneous reaction
In Lab T, Steps to solve the dissociation of HSO4 (3)
- find the ΔHneut of H+
- find the ΔHneut of HSO4
- Subtract the ΔH from 1 and 2. (subtracting the two neut. eqn. will equal the overall dissociation rxn.) - (Hess’ Law)
In Lab T, formula for Ksp
1/2 * [OH-]^3
Draw an exothermic calorimeter graph
Draw an endothermic calorimeter graph
What is Te
Experiment T Dissociation of HSO4-: Lab Timeline (4)
- H+ measured and poured into a calorimeter. temp recorded as initial temp.
- NaOH added to calorimeter
- Record time and temperature of solution in calorimeter ever 30 sec for 3 min
- make new calorimeter with measured amount of HSO4-, initial temp. is recorded. continue recording temp. ever 30 sec
Experiment T, Part 2: Timeline
- saturated son of Ca(OH)2 is filtered and temp. recorded
- titrate Ca(OH)2 with H+. Indicator is phenolphthalein and will turn clear at equilibrium
- repeat titration
- boil a new sample of saturated Ca(OH)2. Repeat steps 1-3
