UE and LE stage 1
flacidity, no active mvt
UE and LE stage 2
little active mvt in the stronger synergy if synergy is facilitated.
some spasticity.
UE and LE stage 3
active mvt in the stronger synergy
no voluntary mvt in the weaker synergy
++ spasticity
UE and LE stage 4
voluntary mvt in the stronger and weaker synergy, BUT only able to do weaker synergy if they start in it.
mild spasticity.
UE and LE stage 5
voluntary mvt in weaker and stronger synergies EVEN if pt start in the weaker synergy.
Spasticity w/ rapid mvt only.
UE and LE stage 6
pt move well through the synergies, but coordination is slightly decreased.
no more spasticity.
UE stage 2 testing
sitting or supine, tap biceps while pt tries to touch chin.
UE stage 3 testing
pt touches chin but is unable to touch opposite knee.
UE stage 4 testing
pt touch opposite knee and then touch chin.
UE stage 5 testing
pt touches chin and then touches knee.
UE stage 6 testing
supine, standing or prone do finger to nose. mild coordination difficulties are expected.
LE stage 2 testing
in crooklying, pt brings the leg in extention w/ facilitation of taping by Pt.
LE stage 3 testing
pt will be able to bring the leg in extention w/o facilitation.
LE stage 4 testing
pt is able to do active hip flexion and then extend the leg all the way to the bed w/o facilitation.
LE stage 5 testing
pt will be able to actively extend the leg and then bring the knee towards torso to do hip flexion to 90.
LE stage 6 testing
sitting or supine, pt is able to do heel to shin. some coordination difficulties can happen.
LE stage 7 testing
sittin gor supine, can do heel to shin.
movement is fluid and coordinated.
