What is a reflex arc?
A functional unit of the nervousness system that is capable of recovering a stimulus yielding a response.
What does the pons do?
Respiratory center
Relay center for info
Medulla?
Connects to spinal cord
Blood pressure and respiratory rate
Hypothalamus?
Pituitary gland with endocrine functions
Thalamus?
Wall around third ventricle
Receives almost all sensory info and sends to cerebral cortex
Pineal gland?
Secretes melatonin which regulates rhythms.
Pituitary?
Controls other glands.
Under hypothalamus.

Constricted in high light
Meissner corpuscles?
Light touch upper dermis
Merkel discs?
Light touch in upper dermis and lower epidermis
Pacinian (lamellated) corpuscles?
Sense pressure like when against a wall or feel vibration

Astigmatism?
When the cornea or lens aren’t perfectly smooth
Blind spot?
The optic disk where no photoreceptors reside
Myopia?
Nearsighted
