Fecal specimen
Describe what types of infective stages fecal specimen demonstrates?

Clean, wide-mouth container made with waxed cardboard, plastic, or glass with a tight-fitting lid

When is Purged and Enema used?
Used when negative in routine O&P Examination but with a strong clinical suspicion of intestinal
amebiasis infection.
What does purged and enema do?
Irrigating the cecal area.

Protoscopic aspirates and scrapings

may also used; Cyst can be examined directly or mixed with 10% KOH for the presence of
hydatid sand (scolices or characteristic hooklets).
