What should you remember to help in a successful lab draw?
No handwritten or double label
order of lab draw is important to follow because of additives in tubes that will affect other tubes
either of these issues can cause the sample to be rejected from the lab
When processing a lab, where would we find appropriate : clotting time, rules for spinning samples, when to refrigerate, and when not to refrigerate?
Follow the requisition label for proper clotting. when spinning a specimen remember the centrifuge must be balanced. some samples need immediate refrigeration (some are immediate and not spun)
Culturettes/swabs/occult stool are not refrigerated but follow directions.
