Landing Flashcards
(10 cards)
Autoland approval is listed on:
The appropriate port page.
The approval is valid for ILS and GLS unless otherwise stated.
For runways approved for autoland operations, an autoland should be considered when:
The visibility is less than 1500m or the cloud base is below 300ft.
An autoland May only be conducted by:
The PIC.
Except in cases of Pilot incapacitation or other emergency.
An autoland approval in no way suggests:
That the ILS is suitable for LVO operations.
Autoland approval merely records that the ILS installation is:
Approved for LVO, or that satisfactory autolands have been demonstrated by 3 or more company aircraft of the appropriate type using the ILS/GLS facility and that the runway meets specific criteria.
A320 autoland glide-path angle?
-2.5 to -3.15 degrees.
Minimum TCH?
40ft.
Maximum TCH?
60ft.
A320 maximum airport elevation for autoland?
2500ft.
If the PIC considers it necessary to change a manual landing to an autoland during an ILS/GLS approach, they may do so providing the following conditions must be met:
- The crew have previously checked the port page and NOTAMS to verify the suitability of the ILS/GLS installation for autoland capability, and included this in the arrival briefing.
- Th decision is announced and briefed before the aircraft descends below 500ft RA.
- The PIC is PF for the autoland.
If there is any doubt over the safe completion of the approach and landing a go around shall be executed.
