Landing Gear & Brakes Flashcards
(30 cards)
Normal brakes on system?
4
Which gear are steerable?
Body and nose gear
Alternate brake system?
Sys 1
Backup alternate brake, system?
Sys 2
Tiller steering authority? (Degrees)
70 degrees either side of center
Rudder pedal authority? (Degrees)
7 degrees in either direction
Hyd system for normal LNG gear operation
Sys 1&4
How many main LNG gear?
4:
2 main body
2 wing
Air gnd sensing system
Relays in wheel well: wing and body gear tilt
Extended strut in the gear nose
Auto brake selector switch
Held in place by magnetic latch
Easily tripped if overridden under various conditions
Auto brakes work when
Gnd mode is sensed
Main wheel spin up is sensed
All 4 thrust levers are at idle
Will maintain selected deceleration
RTO selection?
Provides Max braking during t/o roll
Only operates if gnd spd has exceeded 85 kts during t/o roll
Can only be set on the gnd
Auto brakes disarmed by: five
- Manual brk
- Adv any thrust lever after landing
- Moving spd brake lever to down position
- Move AB selector to disarm
- Fault in A/skid or AB system
Anti-skid armed at what spd?
Greater than 8kts wheel spd
During alternate brake operation……
AS operation provided to wheel pairs rather than individual wheels
Brake torque signal ( detects excessive gear stress) sends to alternate AS valve and signal sent to laterally paired wheel basis
When is lever lock engaged ?
On the ground
When any main gear is not tilted or either body gear is not centered
How is the main gear held in position?
Locks in the wheel well. After locks are engaged, gear doors close
Door position after alternate gear ext?
Remain open
Hyd system for nose wheel steering?
Hyd sys 1
70 degrees
Brake temp ranges
Normal = 0-4 ( white) High = 5-9 (Amber)
Carbon type brakes on all main gear
T or F?
True
Gear indication on primary EICAS?
No display if gear is up
Expanded display if gear operation not normal
a/s while gear in transit
270 kts or .82
a/s after gear fully extended
320 kts or .82
