When weather is used to set/describe mood or atmosphere.

Comparison using like or as.

Transforming something by describing it as something else.

A long metaphor. (Life is a rollercoaster: it is full of ups and downs, every turn is different yet exciting and unexpected.)

Two opposite words side by side.
What is juxtaposition?
Two opposite ideas, an explained oxymoron.
What is symbolism?
When objects are linked and present meaning.
What is a semantic field?
When words across an extract can be linked to one idea.
What is irony?
When events in the text surprises the characters.
What is a rhetorical question?
A question that does not require an answer.
What is hyperbole?
An overexaggeration.
What is assonance?
When vowels are repeated. (Light the fire) (Too cool for school)
What is alliteration?
Words in a row begin with the same letter.
What is sibilance?
Words in a row begin with ‘s’ or similar sound.
