Series of related events that make up a story
Plot
A minor plot that relates in some way to the story
Subplot
The event in the story that causes the conflict
Inciting incident
A stuggle between two opposing forces(external and internal)
Conflict/problem/issue
Occurs between a character and another society or a force of nature
External conflict
Occurs withing one character( such as emotional turmoil or doubts)
Internal conflict
Conflict is resolved and the story is brought to a close
Resolution/outcome
Point in the story that creates the greatest suspense or interest
Climax
Introduction of a story or book that creates the greatest suspence or interest
Exposition
An insight or idea about life
Theme/central idea
Main character in a piece of literature
Protagonist
Another character opposing the protagonist
Antagonist
Overall fueling of work of literature
Mood
The attitude a writer takes toward his or hers subject or characters
Tone
Use of clues or hints to suggest events that will occur later in the story
Foreshadowing
Person, place, thing, or event that has meaning in itself
Symbolism
Is from the perspective of a character told using pronouns like, “I”, “me”, “my”, “we”, “us”, or “our”
Point of view(three types): first person
The narrarator uses “you” to describe the readers thoughts, actions, and background or may speak directly to the audience using, “you”, “you’re”, and “your”
Point of view(three types): second person
Is narrarated by an external narrarator,(he, she, him, her they)
Third person
The narrarator is all-knowing and has acces to the thoughts, feelings, and actions of all the characters
Third person omnicient
The narrarator only has acces to the thoughts and emotions of one character through the story and describing events that they experience
Third person limited
The way a writer reveals the personality of a character
Characterization
What he/she says allowing us to hear the character speak
