Why did Jesus cleanse the Temple?

A

When Jesus and disciples arrived in jerusalem they went to the temple, at the Court of Gentiles (non jews). It was very busy as it was Passover (escape of jews from egypt). he was angry as lots of stalls/noise/money being exchanged in the house of Prayer / Gods House. People praying were taken advantage of. Jesus overturned tables and said tge place of prayer had been made into a den of robbers.
This annoyed Leaders of Jerusalem as they had let the stall holders and wanted to kill jesus.
The messiah would cleanse the temple and this is what jesus did.

What happened in Jesus trial in Sanhedrin?

A

They tried to find a reason to put jesus to death. Finally they had jesus admit he was the son of man,ma crime punishable by death. 71jewish leaders (sadducees, pharisees and high priests including Caiaphas). Due to romans/ political reasons, they changed the charge to King of the Jews.
Each passover, one prisoner could be released - they released a murderer, Barrabas.

What is Palm Sunday?

A

First Sunday of the holy week celebrating Jesus arrival in Jerusalem on a donkey. It is celebrated each year, the Sunday before Easter Sunday. Recorded in Mathhew and Luke gospel.
Today we make little crossses from palms to remind us of jesus entrance into Jerusalem and his death.
