Who was William Penn?

William Penn was an English Quaker who started the colony of Pennsylvania in 1681.

What was the Walking Purchase?

After William Penn died, his family measured land with a Walking Purchase. The Penn family offered money and 500 acres of land to the man who walked the farthest.

How did the Walking Purchase affect the Indians and the colony's?

That Delawares had agreed to sell a strip of land that covered as much land as a man could walk in a day and a half. The settlers cleared a path through the forest before the walk took place. Because of this, the walker was able to cover much more land than the Delawares wanted to sell. The Delawares felt they had been cheated and tricked by the sons of William Penn.
