Q

Mischaracterization of 10 commandments

A

OT actually calls them “10 words” (Decalogue) not commandments
They are more about governing covenant relationship
Better phrase: “Ten principles of covenantal relationship”

Proper perceptions of Torah

A

Not a precondition of salvation, but a grateful response to it! (Exos 19;4-6, Rom 4:13)
Expression of covenant relationship (allegiance not to a code of conduct, but a covenant lord)
Obedience to the Torah was the precondition to Israel’s fulfillment of the mission (holy nation, kingdom of priests)
