What are human rights?
Rights that are protected from unfair treatment by other individuals and government.
Treating individuals unfairly or differently because of characteristics suck as race, sex, religion, age, disability or sexual orientation is called ____________.

Agnes was the first woman to be elected to the House of Commons.

What is suffrage?
Suffrage is the right to vote in political elections, also known as franchise.
Typically in relation to women’s suffrage, a movement to allow women to vote.
What is a feminist?
A person who’s believes in the social, economic, and political equality of the sexes.

A term used to recognize Aboriginal people as belonging to dis Tim y cultural groups with sovereign rights based on being the first people in Canada.
What was the head tax?
The head tax was a tax of $50 imposed on any Chinese person entering Canada after the completion of the railroad.
This was due to an increased number of Chinese immigrants in Canada as they were used for labour on the railroad.
What was the immigration act? When was it implemented?
This act allowed the government to reject immigrants belonging to a race deemed unsuitable.
This was imposed in 1910.
What occurred to the immigration act in 1976?
Pierre Trudeau introduced a point system to the act and evaluated each immigrant based on skills, qualities, and level of education.
