Why did all discussions have to be unanimous and what problems did it cause?

A

All decisions had to be unanimous in order to make sure no decisions affected any countries adversely. This caused problems because there was almost always a country opposed to every proposed idea.

A

An Italian general and his team were ambushed in Corfu while surveying the border between Greece and Albania for the conference of ambassadors. Mussolini retaliated and invaded and occupied the island of Corfu. The league was unable to make a dedication because Britain and France disagreed so the matter was settled outside the league. Greece ended up paying compensation and apologising to Italy even though the killers were never found.

What happened in Bulgaria 1925?

A

Greek troops invaded Bulgaria after some Greek troops were killed on the border. Both powers were ordered to stand down and Greece had to pay £45,000 in compensation. Greece complained that there was one rule for the small countries and another for the main powers (I.e. Italy)
