Q

differentiate between sensory and motor neurons

A

sensory neurons are nerve cells carrying information from sensory receptors towards the central nervous system. afferent neurons.

motor neurons are nerve cells carrying information from the central nervous system towards the muscles and glands. efferent neurons.

Q

limbic system is responsible for motivated behaviours and regulation of emotions

what does the limbic system consist of?

A
  1. thalamus - relays sensory info
  2. hypothalamus (small part below thalamus) - regulates internal processes
  3. amygdala (end of long tube) - emotion and memory processing
  4. hippocampus (long tube) - memory

Q

what is the ANS?

A

part of peripheral nervous system

automatic nervous system (ANS)

communicates with internal organs and glands

sympathetic (fight/flight) and parasympathetic (rest/digest)

Q

what is the SNS?

A

part of the peripheral nervous system

communicates with sense organs and muscles

somatic nervous system for sensory input (afferent) and motor nervous system (efferent) for motor output
