Lecture 0: Introduction Flashcards
(4 cards)
1
Q
Strategies to identify effective intervention components:
A
- expert opinion (ask therapists or patients what they think are effective components)
- look at common elements of effective interventions
- compare effects of interventions with versus without this component
- compare components high versus low fidelity (whether the specific treatment technique was carried out the way it was intended to)
- conduct microtrial (select one treatment component, and offer only that component during the intervention)
- addititive/dismantling studies (randomly assign children to interventiongroups with or without this component)
- factorial experiments (you can alter the combinations of components that make up a treatment, and then make comparisons)

Q
levels of youth interventions
A
Prevention:
Universal – focused on whole population
Selective – focused on youth with certain risk
Indicated – focused on youth already showing symptoms
Treatment:
Symptoms at subclinical level
