Q

Where is thin skin found?

Where is the most thin skin?

Q

Describe the dermis and its 2 layers

A

Q

Describe epidermis

A

Avascular, innervated, 4-5 layers

  • Stratum corneum (cells are dead and keratinized)
  • lucidum
  • granulosum
  • spinous
  • basale

Q

What method of secretion do sudoriferous (sweat glands) glands use?

A

Merocrine = thin, watery secretion—> no damage to the cell

Apocrine = top of cell is secreted along with the secretion - so the top part of the cell is lost
Labia majora

17
Q

What type of method secretion do sebaceous (oil) gland use?

A

Holocrine — whole secretory cell becomes lost as part of the secretion

18
Q

Are hair follicles innervated?

A

Yes

19
Q

Parts of the nail

A
  • Ungis (avascular not innervated)
  • Matrix
  • Subungis (highly innervated)
20
Q

What is a dermatome?

A

Specific region of skin innervated by a specific spinal cord level
