Lecture 1 Info Flashcards
(9 cards)
What is Ohm’s Law
V = R*I (direction matters)!
What is Kirchoff’s Current Law (KCL)
i1 + i2 - i3 - i4 = 0 (and here the direction from where the input is coming determines sign)
What is Kirchoff’s Voltage Law (KVL)
-v1 -v2 + v3 + v4 = 0 (here direction of voltage also matters)
What is mesh equations?
A mesh is a loop which does not enclose any other loop
steps to solve
1. assign mesh current for each mesh
2. apply KVL around each mesh
3. solve for mesh current
How do you combine series vs parallel resistors
with SERIES resistors you just add them straight through like (r1 + r2 + r3 + r4)
with PARALLEL you do 1/Req = 1/r1 + 1/r2 + 1/r3
Example of Single Node-Pair Circuit Analysis
Voltage Divider Circuit Equation
Vr1 = R1/ (R1 + R2)
Current Divider Circuit
iR1 = R2 / (R1 + R2) (*IT IS SWITCHED HERE)
Understanding this
Task A:
- Simulink circuit made with -
DC current source
iS, i1, i2 and v show current divider rule and KCL
Task B:
- AC circuit was built
- Output was sinusoidal pattern
