What is a source of law?
Any act or fact that modifies the legal order by introducing, amending, or repealing legal rules.
What are the two main types of sources of law?
Acts (written laws) and facts (customs and conventions).
What is an “act-source” of law?
A written act adopted by a legislative authority, such as a statute or constitution.
What is a “fact-source” of law?
A human behavior repeated over time with legal significance, like customs.
What are sources “on production”?
They define the authority, procedure, and limits of other sources of law (e.g., the Constitution for legislation).
What are sources “of production”?
They introduce, amend, or repeal legal rules (e.g., a statute passed by Parliament).
What is a source of cognizance?
It provides official notice of legal norms but is not a source of law itself.
