A

Peritoneal sac is the parietal and visceral portions of the sac, the cavity is a potential space within the sac

Describe the lesser omentum in terms of: the ligaments it is composed of, its function, and where it is derived from

A

Lesser omentum is derived from the ventral mesentary and functionally serves to connect the stomach and duodenum to the liver. it is composed in part by hepatogastric and heptoduodenal ligaments

What does the mesocolon do?

A

Anchors the transverse colon to the posterior wall creating two compartments.
Supracolic compartment – contains stomach, liver and spleen
Infracolic compartment – contains small intestine and ascending & descending colon.
